John O Ashby, DDS, MS was born and raised in Oklahoma. While at the University of Oklahoma, he found two great passions - his wife, Rachel, a psychology graduate student originally from Iowa, and dentistry. He lucked into both and they continue to bless his life. From Oklahoma, the Ashby's moved to St. Louis so he could study orthodontics. In St. Louis, three wonderful things happened to their family, Dr. Ashby discovered his love for orthodontics and the challenges it presented and they were blessed with two children, a boy, JT, and a girl, Elise. After working for a few years in St. Louis following residency, the Ashby's ventured east. They were drawn to the Tidewater area for a number of reasons: Rachel's sister, and best friend, lives nearby, the weather is fantastic and Dr. Owens' honesty, kindness and practice philosophy were a great "fit" for Dr. Ashby. Tidewater has been great for the Ashby's - they love the beach and enjoying the great weather. Dr. Ashby stays busy with work, family and church. He maintains active membership in the ADA and AAO as well as serving on the craniofacial anomalies team at CHKD.
